Canyon Ridge – High Atop the Magnificent Chama River Valley
of Northern New Mexico
In the high country of New Mexico’s Canyon Ridge you can see forever. On a clear day you can see all the way from Canyon Ridge to the rugged ridges of the San Juan Mountains of Colorado and the wild and scenic canyons of New Mexico’s Rio Chama Valley. Canyon Ridge is just south of Chama, New Mexico, where you will find all of your modern necessities offered in a town of rustic Old West charm.
Home to the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, Chama is the hub of tourism and commerce for the entire Chama River Valley including Tierra Amarilla, Los Ojos and other nearby communities, new and old .
With its breath-taking views and utter tranquility, you may never want to leave Canyon Ridge. But when you do, you will find an endless variety of artistic, cultural and sporting opportunities within an hour or two of your new Canyon Ridge retreat. The Chama River Valley is home to justly-proud descendants of the original Spanish and Mexican settlers as well as Native peoples, especially the Jicarilla Apache, whose honest customs form the spiritual, cultural and agricultural heart of this community. The system of acequias built by their ancestors and maintained by today’s hard-working farmers keep the Chama River Valley and most of Northern New Mexico green. To the north of Canyon Ridge, Pagosa Springs Colorado with its famous Mineral Hot Springs and Wolf Creek Ski Area beckon. To the East and South, across the Brazos Ridge, the town of Taos, New Mexico with its world-famous arts community and Santa Fe, our Nation’s oldest capitol city, are an easy day trip away. Commercial air access to Canyon Ridge is available through Durango, Colorado or Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pagosa Springs private Jet Port has a newly extended runway and new FBO facilities.
